I first went to Korea as part of Team Spirit in 1983.  1987-1988 I was stationed at Taegu Air Base (K2) in Taegu.  I was the Assistant Chief, Base Administration, a job usually reserved to higher ranking NCOs, but Taegu is a small base.  I spent much time in Seoul and Pusan and traveling around the country.   Took a college course in conversational Korean.  It's actually one of my better languages.  I'll write more han-guk later.  Other pages just have to come first.
